Transcend Releases Full HD Car Video Recorder with Integrated Wi-Fi

2013/11/19

Transcend Information, Inc. (Transcend®), a worldwide leader in storage and multimedia products, today announced the release of its DrivePro 200 Car Video Recorder – a digital driving video recorder specifically designed to capture real-time video of on-road events as they happen. Mounted on the windshield, the Full HD DrivePro 200 uses a high-quality camera and integrated wireless connectivity to give drivers a greater chance than ever of identifying the cause and providing reliable evidence of any incidents to insurance companies or police.

“We are proud to release this Full HD car video recorder to help drivers around the world feel more confident on the road,” said Vincent Fang, department director of Research and Development at Transcend. “Our goal in designing the DrivePro 200 was to make it as easy as possible to use so you can get on with the job of driving, and know that every detail of your journey is stored and can be shared whenever needed.”

Full HD 1080p Resolution and Enhanced Night View
The DrivePro 200 combines a 160 degree wide viewing angle, Full HD 1920x1080p (30fps) resolution, and a large f/2.0 aperture to capture every detail of an event, including license plates, in both day and night. With a row of 7 glass lenses, the advanced camera maximizes sharpness across the entire image. A bright 2.4-inch color LCD screen displays a live preview of current recordings and can be used to playback archived videos. Additionally, a built-in microphone gives the option of recording sound if desired.

Includes 16GB microSDHC Class 10 Memory Card
The bundled accessories ensure installation and recording are as straightforward as possible. After mounting on the windshield and connecting to the lighter socket, operating the DrivePro 200 does not require further driver involvement. Video files are automatically recorded to the included 16GB Transcend microSDHC Class 10 MLC memory card when the vehicle’s engine is turned on. Moreover, with Loop Recording enabled, the oldest files in the memory card will be overwritten by new video files when memory card capacity is full; saving the need to purchase additional storage.

Motion G-Sensor for Impact Detection
In the event of a collision, the DrivePro 200’s motion G-Sensor will detect the impact and instantly trigger emergency recording mode. Emergency recording mode protects the current recording, including the critical seconds before the accident, from being overwritten. If other situations occur outside the vehicle which may provide important information in the event of a false claim or lawsuit, pressing the accessible emergency button will manually activate emergency recording.

Built-in Wi-Fi Connectivity
With safety and convenience in mind, passengers can operate the DrivePro 200 via wireless smartphone connectivity. Supported by a free downloadable App, Apple iOS and Android device users simply connect to the DrivePro 200’s dedicated wireless network to view live video footage during recording, playback and download video files, and easily adjust DrivePro 200 settings directly from their smartphone or tablet. The ability to wirelessly download and exchange videos with police in a timely manner could prove vital in an emergency situation.

The device also features a built-in USB 2.0 connector for easy computer connectivity and fast file transfers, while the included video cable allows playback of videos on a television screen. The feature-rich DrivePro 200 Full HD Car Video Recorder with 16GB microSDHC Class 10 MLC memory card is currently available for a suggested price of US$169. DrivePro 200 is backed by a two-year warranty.
